ABOUT US
We acquired our first mastiff, Jessie, 5 years ago as a puppy. It was a spur of the moment decision. I had wanted a dog for quite some time but held off because I had a horse, Oliver, that took most of my free time and I knew it would not be fair for the dog. Sadly, Oliver passed away suddenly from Colic and after weeks of mourning and deciding that no other horse could possibly replace Oliver, I began thinking about a dog. My son REALLY wanted a dog as well and he was at the perfect age. I had always been in awe of the English mastiff but had yet to see one in person. I looked in the paper and called the first ad I saw. She had 2 puppies left. I decided to go out there JUST to see them, NOT to purchase one. I had every intention of just looking and continuing to do research on the breed. Yeah, right. It was love at first sight and my obsession with Mastiff’s had begun. I brought Jessie home 2 weeks later and since, cannot imagine not having one of these gentle giants in our home and part of our family. All of my friends tease me that I replaced one horse with another ‘horse’ but this one I could keep in the house J
Two years after getting Jessie, we decided it was time to add to our mastiff family. They say mastiff’s are like chips, you can’t have just one. We have since educated ourselves on the different pedigrees as well as proper health testing. After much searching, we added Gus to our family from Windfall Mastiffs and have not had a quiet day in our household since but we wouldn’t have it any other way. I continue to learn new things from them everyday and strive to continue to educate myself on the breed and their health issues to give them the best life possible.
